A Divine Song

A lady I had just met at my Unity Church told me a story, it was the most beautiful story. She had noticed that I was going to have a baby (how could she not). She lightly patted my arm and with a warm smile she told me about a tribe in Africa. She said that whenever there is a pregnant woman in their tribe, all of the other women gather together and sit and listen for the growing baby's song. When they hear this song they begin to sing to the womb, as does the mother, children, family and friends. After the child is born they continue to sing. This song becomes a piece of them. It is unique and for especially for them. When the child misbehaves they take him/her to the center of the tribe and EVERYONE sings their song to them. This is to remind them who they are, and that they are loved.

I absolutely LOVED this story and it made me think. How smart are these beautiful people, to have known how to find the baby's song and sing to them from the womb. What a special gift, to have the people around you be so in love with you, that every time you do something that doesn't match up with your values, and in such a beautiful way, remind you of who you are and where you come from. A simple song that was created from a heart beat.

I think that all of us have a song within us. Although, we didn't have a beautiful tribe sing to us as we grew and remind us when we would make mistakes, but deep inside of us you'll find a melody that co-exists with our soul. This melody is our beauty, our love, our gift to the world. We need to sit, listen and hear this melody. There is nothing more important right now than our song.  We need our song to remind us of how strong and beautiful we are. We need to be reminded constantly of our gifts and that we are connected to something bigger than just this body. We are connected to a divine energy that flows through us and out into the world.  THE WORLD NEEDS OUR SONG. So sing my love birds.
